What is so exciting about soccer?

I have no idea why in the hell soccer is so popular throughout the world. I mean come on, its a bunch of guys jogging for what, 90 minutes? And the score in an "exciting" game is like 2-1. I mean, baseball is said to be boring but damn, at least there is some scoring every once in a while there. The only conclusion i can come to is that anyone can play it from the time they are a kid, even if they are poor simply by having a round ball and an open plot of land. Its not like they have to buy a glove, bat, or any other type of equipment. My god, that game is BORING and a HORRIBLE excuse for entertainment, or sport for that matter. They should call it soccer like we do in the states, and give up the name "football" to a game that is actually exciting to watch, AMERICAN FOOTBALL.

Sorry bud but it’s the biggest sport in the world for a reason, if you ever played it you would know how knackering a game can be.

Comparing Soccer and Baseball isn’t fair, Technique and Flair play a large part in Soccer and next to no part in Baseball, I like Baseball but c’mon when he hits the ball its either going left, right or straight down the middle, a little repetitive for me.

Maybe we should start giving 5 points a goal and 3 points for hitting it over the bar and then maybe you will like it :P

You are right about anybody being able to participate in the game and it does’nt cost anything except for a ball. As an American I have found the game to be very exciting especially watching our country beat a so called "futbol country" at their game. If you tried to play it you may enjoy it more. I have found that a 1-0 game is awesome because its not just about scoring but holding on to the lead. A football game that is 35-3 at the half is so boring you might as well get drunk. American football has lost its thrill for me, to many timeouts, to many stoppages, to many penalties, it has become a 10 second sumo match followed by 3 minutes of delay. I still love my Saints but i wish they would speed up the game some. 3 hours of time for 20 minutes of action is just a waste to me. American football will never take off anywhere except here because : 1. to expensive 2. to many freaking rules 3. You have to be a certian body type and mindset to play it.

      Jhat

The longest evening I spent last winter was watching an American Football game. It took forever! The average play was under 10 seconds. There were only three scores. Every time I turned around there was a time out, and injury time out, a commercial time out. It was never ending INACTION

The score was 14- 7. Only three scores just like you example of a soccer game…. 3 scores. Does giving more points for the score make it seem like there is more action?

So, beauty (or action) is in the eye of the beholder. So soccer, constant action, no stoppages (except for injury) same number of scores. Football, 7 second plays, then stop for huddles, time outs, injury times, commercial time outs.

I find soccer much more exciting. Football boring, and baseball……… well then there is baseball. We both agree on that one. :-) lmao

By the way, it is not from lack of knowledge that I make these claims. I played College level football, lacrosse, and soccer. I have more than a smattering of knowledge of all three sports.
