How does a player who has a career .317 batting average, four rings, 2 gold gloves, was robbed of an MVP…?
…..is a future first ballot Hall of Famer, is author of some of the greatest and most memorable plays in both regular and post season history including "The Flip", undisputed best leader in baseball, a consumate gentleman on and off the field, has the ability to handle the toughese media market in the country, constantly be called overrated?
I dont kno becuz if they have gold gloves and four rings and .317 batting average they should be one of the best in baseball
Quite easily. Despite his consistent performance, each season another player performed better for himself and his team. Does not mean that other players are "off" and not worthy. Ask yourself this though. If a MVP award is that special, why are those who won it not in HOF?
i think the leader thing is overrated. jeter looks like a good leader when your team has the highest payroll in baseball and is always surrounded by a considerable amount of talent. he is a good player but he is overrated.
MVP is loosely based on number of HR’s and RBI’s in a year, he’s only reached 100 RBI’s once, and his HR total is average.. Sure hes a great baseball player with alot of other things that make him MVP like, but I dont think that goes into consideration. He doesn’t physically carry the team but he sure does it emotionally wise.
There are 30 other shortstops who could have four rings had they been lucky enough to have been drafted by the Yankees. Yankee fans act like he won four championships by himself. There are a ton of players who won MVP awards who will never get a whiff of the Hall of Fame. Two Gold Gloves for the amount of years he’s played is hardly impressive if you’re trying to say he’s great defensively.
How or who. If who, I believe you refer to Derek Jeter. If how, well, nailing Jessica Biel, Mariah Carey, Jessica Alba, etc. etc. will do that to you.
He’s overrated because you Yankee fans have him hyped up to be the greatest shortstop ever. He’s not. Jeter is a very good shortstop but right now there are at least 3 SS’s I’d rather have on my team, Rollins, Reyes and Ramirez. I mean, Rollins is a 30/30 guy, I think Ramirez will one day be a 40/40 player, Reyes is a present day version of Rickey Henderson on the basepaths. And only 2 Gold Gloves? He’s played 12 seasons and he’s only got 2 Gold Gloves, that really isn’t that great. Especially considering that in 2000 he was among the league leaders in errors.
You said it yourself 2 gold gloves and the guys probably been playing his position for 15 years!!! A .317 batting average is nice but how many Batting titles does he have? Has he led the league in anything in his career? Please give some more information because the .317 BA is not getting him to the Hall! A lot of players from the Yankees were fortunate to get four WS rings. That does not qualify a player to be a HOF’er! I guess you think Bernie Williams should go to the HOF too he has 4 rings and four gold gloves and actually has a batting title! He aint going either! Paul O’Neill, etc, etc etc
because maybe his seasons were filled with just high averages
